DC-09 Studio is a Windows desktop app and a command-line tool for testing SIA DC-09 alarm signaling over IP. It combines a virtual alarm panel, a virtual receiver, a field-by-field frame analyzer, and seven receiver checks, and works with ANSI/SIA DC-09-2013 frames.
Install
- Sign in to your Kalytera account and download DC-09 Studio from Downloads. We approve new accounts before downloads open.
- Run the MSI installer. It installs DC-09 Studio for all users in
C:\Program Files\Kalytera DC-09 Studio, with the command-line tool in itsclifolder, and adds the app to the Start menu under Kalytera.
Our installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may ask you to confirm before the installer runs: select More info, then Run anyway. DC-09 Studio runs on 64-bit Windows and includes everything it needs.
Decode a frame
On the Analyzer tab, paste a frame as hex or as printable text with <LF> and <CR> markers, choose the Revision (2013 by default, or 2007), add the AES key in hex if the frame is encrypted, and select Analyze. The Field-by-field decode lists every element, from the CRC and length to the account, sequence, data block, and timestamp, with the section of the standard it comes from, and flags anything that does not conform. SIA-DCS and ADM-CID payloads are explained in plain language.
Simulate a panel
On the Panel tab, set the receiver's Host and port, TCP or UDP, the Account, receiver and line numbers, and an optional AES key (32, 48, or 64 hex characters for 128, 192, or 256 bits). In the Event composer, choose SIA-DCS or ADM-CID and a data block such as #1234|Nri01/BA007, then select Send event. Send NULL sends a supervision poll, and Run scenario plays a sequence of events from a scenario file. The Wire transcript shows every frame and response.
Simulate a receiver
On the Receiver tab, set the Port (9999 by default), tick TCP, UDP, or both, add an optional AES key, and select Start. Incoming events and polls appear with their account, sequence, and the response sent: ACK by default, or NAK when an encrypted event's timestamp is outside the accepted window. Under Misbehavior (fault injection), the receiver can answer NAK or DUH to everything, corrupt its response CRC, echo the wrong sequence, or drop ACKs, so you can see how a panel copes.
The receiver in the desktop app listens on this computer only. To receive from panels on your network, run dc09studio receiver listen, which listens on all interfaces.
Run the receiver checks
On the Conformance tab, enter the Target receiver, add an AES key to include the encrypted cases, and select Run. The seven checks are:
- Event is positively acknowledged
- Response echoes the event sequence
- NULL poll is acknowledged with sequence 0000
- Response frame carries a valid CRC
- Supervision poll is answered
- AES-encrypted event is accepted
- Stale timestamp is NAKed with the receiver's clock
Each result shows its verdict and the section of the standard behind it. To keep a report, run the same checks with dc09studio conform run and --html or --pdf, which write the report to the path you choose. The checks give engineering evidence against the cited sections of the standard; they are not a certification.
Command line
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
dc09studio receiver listen | Runs a receiver (port 9999, TCP and UDP by default) |
dc09studio panel send | Sends one event, or a NULL poll with --null |
dc09studio panel run <scenario.json> | Plays a scenario |
dc09studio analyze | Decodes frames from hex, text, or a JSONL capture |
dc09studio conform run --target HOST:PORT | Runs the receiver checks; --html and --pdf write reports and --json prints the results |
dc09studio license status | Shows the active edition |
Exit codes suit CI pipelines: 0 for success, 1 for a usage error, 2 for a negative outcome such as a failed check, and 3 when the edition does not include the command.
Editions
| Edition | Includes |
|---|---|
