Kalytera Cloud on your phone
Install the Kalytera Mobile app for Android, sign in with a code from the portal or with your email and password, watch live video and recordings, handle alarms, get alarm notifications, and sign out a lost phone.

The Kalytera Mobile app brings live video, recordings and alarms to an Android phone. Kalytera provides it as an installation file (APK); it is not in an app store. Anyone with a portal account can use it, and each person signs in as themselves.
Install the app
- On the phone, open the APK file you received from Kalytera. The phone needs Android 8.0 or later.
- If Android says that the app you opened it with may not install apps, open the settings it offers, allow installs from this source, and go back.
- Select Install. If Google Play Protect warns about an unknown app, continue only with the file from Kalytera.
- Open Kalytera Mobile.
Install updates from Kalytera the same way.
Sign in with a code from the portal
- In the portal, select Mobile app in the rail (on a phone, under More).
- Under Add a phone, select Create sign-in code. The code works once, for 5 minutes, and holds no password.
- In the app, select Scan a QR code and point the camera at the code. If the app asks, select Set up this phone.
- The app shows a 6-digit code. In the portal, select Check for the phone.
- Under Waiting for you, compare Code on the phone with the app, then select Approve. If they differ, or the app says another phone used the code, select Cancel and create a new one.
The phone then finishes signing in by itself. Only the person who created a code can approve it. If the page says phone sign-in is not set up, contact Kalytera.
Sign in with email and password
- In the app, enter your portal's address under System URL and select Continue.
- Check the name shown, then select Sign in with email and password.
- Sign in on your portal's own sign-in page, which opens in the browser. The app never sees or stores your password.
Either way, the phone stays signed in until it is signed out in the app or the portal, or until its user's password, role or access changes. One phone holds one account at a time: to use another, sign out first.
What you can do in the app
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Monitor | Choose a Site, or All sites, search cameras and open live video. Sound starts muted; Full screen plays in landscape. Video stops when you leave the screen. |
| Investigate | Play a camera's recordings on a timeline that marks its alarms, with Jump to date and time, Latest, Previous, Next and Alarms around this time. |
| Alarms | Filter Open, Acknowledged, Resolved or All, view the snapshot and clip of each evidence camera, Acknowledge, and Resolve, with an optional resolution note. Open recording at this time jumps to the footage. |
| Settings | Your organization and portal address, Alarm notifications, Appearance, App lock, Signed-in phones and Sign out. |
The app shows only what your role and service allow. Viewers can watch but cannot acknowledge or resolve alarms, and recordings appear only when your service includes cloud recording. If your service allows one live viewer at a time and someone else is watching, the app says so and does not take over.
App lock is off by default. Turned on, it asks for your fingerprint, face or screen lock each time the app starts, and when you return to it after 15 seconds or more.
Alarm notifications
On Android 13 and later, the app asks for permission to send notifications after you sign in. Each new alarm then notifies every phone signed in to your portal with a short Kalytera Cloud alarm message; tap it to open the alarm. Alarms that Cloud arming holds back do not notify.
Settings > Alarm notifications shows whether this phone can receive them. If notifications are off in Android's settings, turn them on there. If the app says it has no push configuration, check the Alarms tab for new alarms and ask Kalytera.
Sign out a lost phone
- In the portal, select Mobile app.
- Find the phone in the list of signed-in phones. Administrators see every phone in the portal; everyone else sees their own.
- Select Sign out.
The phone is signed out at once and stops receiving alarm notifications. From another phone signed in to your account, you can also use Settings > Signed-in phones in the app, which signs out one phone or Sign out all phones.
Connect someone else's phone
- An administrator can set up a phone for another person: under Add a phone, choose them in Phone for, then select Create sign-in code. The phone signs in as that person, and the administrator approves it.
- Connect someone else's phone shows a QR code that only gives the app your portal's address. The person scans it and signs in with their own email and password.
