Evidence, exports, and reports
Export several cameras, preview the results, preserve a case and download reports including PDF; understand the API-only evidence packages and audit checks.
Contents
Use Investigate to find footage, export clips and preserve evidence for a case. Administrators and operators export video. Creating and changing evidence holds, and their reports, require the evidence-preservation permission, which administrators inherit. Supervisors can also open holds and download their files; Read-only people can open them without downloading. Audit-period reports are for administrators. The relevant recording and evidence features must be enabled for your portal.
Export several cameras
- Open Recorded video, put the relevant cameras in the view and inspect the period. Search recorded events beside the footage when you need to locate an alarm, object or motion event.
- Open Clip range: at the first moment select Set start; at the last select Set end. Select Review export.
- Review the camera selection and time range. Select the cameras you need for the same interval; each produces its own export.
- Create the exports using the button showing the number selected. Check each result rather than assuming every camera had the same recording coverage.
If the selected start has no footage, the portal shows the gap and asks whether to export the original interval with that missing footage. Adjust the range or explicitly accept the gap. An export cannot invent frames that were never recorded. See Live view and playback for timeline controls.
Preview and download
Open Investigate > Exports. When an export is ready, select Preview to play it before download. Check the camera, time range and relevant action, then use Download. Each export is available for 24 hours after it becomes ready, and one that expires while the page is open stops offering its download. After it expires, Create again makes a new copy while its source footage is still kept. The downloaded file keeps the camera's name, including letters from other alphabets.
Creating an export does not preserve all the source footage indefinitely. Cloud privacy masks do not cover exported video; camera-applied masks are part of the recorded image. Check the file before sharing it and store a needed copy in the location approved for your case.
Preserve a case
- Open Evidence holds and select Create evidence hold.
- Choose the record type and Find records, then select the relevant records. A hold accepts at most 100 records and 20 video or picture files.
- Enter Case reference and Preservation reason, then select Create hold.
- Open View case and check the preserved material. Release it only when the case permits, with a Release reason and Request release.
Held copies use storage and survive ordinary retention until released. Release pending means removal is still underway. If holds fill the storage allowance, new recording can be affected; see Recording, retention, and evidence.
Create a report and PDF
- Open Reports and select Create report.
- Choose Report scope and select Apply scope. Select the hold or incident; for an audit-period report, review From and Through, in order and no more than 366 days apart.
- Enter a Title and Purpose or context, then select Save report.
- Download the saved report in the required format: PDF, CSV, JSON or HTML. Check the PDF's language, time zone, scope and dates before sharing. Reports saved before PDF support, or whose PDF exceeds 8 MiB, have no PDF download; use Open print view instead.
A saved report is a snapshot of the information at creation, not a live document. Its PDF uses the requesting person's language and time zone. Report storage has its own budget; an administrator can use Change report budget. A report alone does not place footage on hold.
Evidence packages and audit checks by API
Authorized integrations can download an evidence hold as one signed package of reports and preserved recordings. An administrator can also use the API to check whether sealed audit entries were changed or removed. These workflows have no corresponding customer button in this release. Ask Support for the current integration contract and required permissions. A signed evidence package, a video export and a PDF report are different outputs; choose the one your case needs.
