A floor plan helps people locate cameras and devices at a Site. Open Sites, choose the Site and select Floor plans. People who can see that Site can view its plans. Adding or changing plans needs Change Sites on All sites, which administrators have. A plan does not give anyone additional permission to watch video or control equipment.

Prepare a plan image

Use a PNG or JPEG of up to 8 MB and 8,192 pixels on each side. Choose a clear plan with readable room labels and a consistent orientation. Remove confidential annotations, personal details and information operators do not need before uploading. Use an image your organization is allowed to share with people who can access the Site.

For a building with several floors, prepare a separate image for each floor and give each a recognizable name. A plan is a picture with device markers, not a scale drawing or a replacement for the installer's equipment records.

Add the plan

  1. Select Add a floor plan.
  2. Enter Name and select the file under Plan image.
  3. Select Upload and wait for the plan to appear. If the image is refused, check its format, size and dimensions before trying again.
  4. Choose the required plan when the Site has several.

Place cameras and devices

  1. Select Edit. Not on this plan lists the Site's cameras, inputs, outputs and speakers available to place.
  2. Select Place for a device, then drag its marker to the correct position.
  3. For keyboard positioning, focus the marker and use the arrow keys; hold Shift for smaller movements. Changes save as you work, so check any reported error before leaving.
  4. Use Remove or Delete to take a marker off the plan. This does not delete the camera or device from the Site.
  5. Select Done to leave editing.

A device that has left the Site is no longer available there; remove its old marker and review the actual inventory. See Sites for camera assignment and equipment setup.

View cameras and alarms

A camera marker's ring is green when it is online and red when it is offline. Read its status rather than relying on color alone. If your access allows live video at this Site, select the camera to open a small live view. Open in Monitor opens the camera in Monitor; close the preview when finished. A live-session limit can prevent the preview from starting.

An alarm's details have a Floor plan fold when its camera is placed on a plan. It marks that camera so the operator can locate the event, including when they cannot open Sites. A marker identifies a location; it does not prove what happened. Review the alarm evidence using Alarms and incidents.

Maintain the plans

In Edit, use Rename, Replace image, Move earlier or Move later as needed. After replacing an image, check every marker against the new drawing. Delete plan asks for confirmation and removes the plan; its devices remain at the Site. Review plans whenever cameras move or the building layout changes.
