Hikvision and Dahua devices
Enroll Hikvision and Dahua cameras and recorders by Hikvision ISUP, Dahua AutoReg or Hikvision SDK, set up the device, and add each channel as a camera.
Contents
Kalytera Cloud connects Hikvision and Dahua cameras and recorders through the vendors' own protocols. A portal administrator enrolls the physical device, the installer sets it up on the device, and then each channel is added as a camera.
Choose a method
| Method | Who connects | What the site needs |
|---|---|---|
| Hikvision ISUP | The device connects out to Kalytera. | Outbound access to the address and ports the portal shows. Video is not encrypted. |
| Dahua AutoReg | The device connects out to Kalytera. | Outbound access to the address and port the portal shows. Video is not encrypted. |
| Hikvision SDK | Kalytera signs in to the device. | The device reachable from the internet on its SDK port, normally 8000. The connection is not encrypted. H.264 only. |
All three are in Cameras > Add camera > Connection type, for administrators only. If a type is greyed out there, it is not available on your service. Ask Kalytera.
Hikvision ISUP
- In Add camera, choose Hikvision ISUP and select Enroll device.
- Enter the Physical device name. For an NVR or DVR, tick This is a recorder (NVR/DVR).
- Select Generate enrollment credentials. The page shows the Server address, Server port, Media port, Device ID (generated by Kalytera) and ISUP registration key.
- On the device, open Platform Access (usually Configuration > Network > Advanced Settings). Enable it, choose ISUP (or EHome) 5.0, and enter the server address, server port, Device ID and key. The device may call the key a password, encryption key or verification code. Enter the media port only if the device asks for it.
- Select I copied the key — continue to channels.
The key is shown once, and the page survives a refresh for 15 minutes. If you lose the key, select Regenerate Device ID & key on the Connection tab of any of the device's cameras. Every channel of that device stays offline until you enter the new values on the device.
Dahua AutoReg
- In Add camera, choose Dahua AutoReg and select Enroll device.
- Enter the Device name. For a recorder, tick This device is an NVR or DVR.
- Enter the Device username and Device password of an existing account on the device, 1 to 63 printable characters without spaces. Kalytera signs in with it once the device connects.
- Select Enroll device. The device page shows the AutoReg connection values: Server address, Port and Device ID.
- On the device, open its Auto Registration settings (often Network > Register). Enable registration and enter the server address, port and Device ID.
To change the account, use Device details on the device page.
Hikvision SDK
First, on the device, note its server port (normally 8000, not the HTTP port), create an operator account with live view and playback rights, and set each channel's main stream to H.264. Forward the SDK port on the site router, and ask Kalytera for the domains and addresses to allow.
- In Add camera, choose Hikvision SDK and select Add device.
- Enter the Device name. For a recorder, tick This device is an NVR or DVR.
- Enter the IP address or host name Kalytera can reach, without
http://, port or path, and the SDK port. - Enter the Device username and Device password, then select Add device. Kalytera signs in and lists the channels.
To change the address or account, use Connection details on the device page. If your portal includes playback, the camera's Connection tab also shows Recordings stored on the camera or NVR.
Add the channels as cameras
Each channel becomes its own camera and counts toward your camera limit.
- Hikvision ISUP: Add camera opens with the device chosen. Choose the Site, tick channels under Available to add, select Review, check each Camera name and select Add selected cameras. Clear Enabled to add them disabled.
- Dahua AutoReg and Hikvision SDK: on the device page, choose the Site, tick channels under Available to add, enter a Camera name and select Add selected cameras or Create disabled for later.
To add more channels later, go to Cameras > Devices and select Manage for the device type. For recording settings, see Recording, retention, and evidence.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Waiting for registration or Offline (ISUP, AutoReg) | The values on the device, and that the site firewall lets the device reach the server address and ports. |
| Sign-in failing (SDK) | The device page gives the reason, such as a wrong password, a locked account or no answer on the SDK port. Repeated wrong passwords can lock the device account. |
| A message that the stream is H.265 (SDK) | Set that channel's main stream to H.264 on the device. |
| No channels listed | Select Refresh, or Refresh inventory for AutoReg, after the device connects. Check that the channels are set up on the recorder. |
Remove a device
In Cameras > Devices, select Manage for the device type. Under the device (on the device page for Hikvision SDK), open the remove section, for example Remove Dahua AutoReg device, and select Review and remove. A camera with footage or alarm history is retired; the others are deleted. Then clear the Platform Access or Auto Registration settings on the device.
