Live view

Live video is in Operate > Video: choose Live. Each user sees the cameras their live video permission covers.

Open cameras

The Cameras list shows the cameras you may view. Search with Find camera, or filter by All, Online or Offline. Select a camera to open it; the list shows which cell it will open in.

Layouts

Use Layout in the toolbar to choose 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, or 16 cells, or the 1+5 layout. Focus camera enlarges one camera within the view, Show grid returns to the layout, and Clear wall empties it.

Saved views

A saved view keeps the layout, the camera in each cell and any fixed quality choices. Saving supports 1, 2, 4 or 9 cells; other layouts cannot be saved. Open Views > Save current view…, enter a Name, and choose the Access:

• Private: only you see the view.
• Shared with operators: everyone with access to saved views can open it. Sharing needs the share permission.

Tick Open this view by default if needed, then select Save view. Open views from Views, under My views and Shared with me. Your own selected view has update and delete commands that include its name; confirm edits with Update view. Each user can keep up to 100 views. Shared views respect each viewer's camera permissions.

Video quality

Kalytera VMS chooses a stream automatically: a lower resolution for a multi-cell layout and a stream suited to a single cell's size. Focus and full screen prefer the configured recording stream when it is available in H.264; otherwise they choose the higher-resolution stream. Choose a stream from Quality to fix it; Auto returns to automatic selection.

Cell controls

• Zoom: choose 1×, 2× or 4×. Double-click the video for 2× zoom, or to reset it when already zoomed.
• Full screen: select this action in the cell's controls.
• Fill cell or Fit whole frame: crop the image to fill the cell or show all of it.
• Camera details, Stop live video and Remove from view are also available in the cell's controls.

Small cells place controls under More actions. A cell can show Starting live video, Live, Reconnecting, Camera unavailable or Permission required. Reconnection retries automatically. Use Try again when offered, or Resume after stopping live video.

Instant replay

Use the cell's Instant replay action, whose label includes the selected interval, to watch recent recording. Jump back in the toolbar selects 10 seconds, 30 seconds (the default), 1 minute, 2 minutes or 5 minutes. Return to Live or Esc returns to live video; Open in Playback continues in Playback. Replay needs playback permission and available recording.

PTZ cameras

For a camera offering PTZ, open PTZ controls. Hold a direction to move and release to stop. Use the Zoom buttons for optical zoom; the mouse wheel also zooms optically while these controls are open. Select Home where available, or select a camera preset by name. Controlling PTZ needs device operation permission.

How live video reaches the browser

Each Site Node sends camera video to Management over its outbound connection, and Management relays it to the browser with WebRTC. Operators do not connect directly to cameras. Live view uses H.265 where the browser can decode it and an available H.264 stream otherwise. When no compatible stream is available, the cell explains why it cannot play.
