Live view

Live video is in Operate > Video: choose Live. Each user sees the cameras their live video permission covers.

Open cameras

The Cameras list shows every camera you may view. Search it with Find camera or channel, or filter it by All, Configured, or Attention. Select a camera to open it; the list shows which cell it will open in.

Layouts

Choose 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, or 16 cells, or the 1+5 layout, under Cells in the toolbar. Focus enlarges one camera within the view, Show grid returns to the layout, and Clear view empties it.

Saved views

A saved view keeps the layout, the camera in each cell, and any fixed quality choices. To create one, select Save as, enter a Name, and choose the Access:

• Private: only you see the view.
• Shared with operators: everyone with access to saved views can open it. Sharing needs the share permission.

Tick Open this view by default to start Live with it. Open views from the View list, under My views and Shared with me, and use Update or Delete on your own. Each user can keep up to 100 views, and a shared view never shows anyone a camera they are not allowed to see.

Video quality

Kalytera VMS chooses a stream for each cell automatically: the lowest resolution when several cameras share the view, the stream that fits the cell when one camera fills it, and the highest resolution in focus and full screen. To fix a stream, choose it from the cell's Quality list; Auto returns to automatic selection.

Cell controls

• Digital zoom: 1×, 2×, or 4×.
• Full screen: select the full-screen button or double-click the video.
• Fill or Fit: crop the image to the cell or show all of it.
• Camera details, Stop live video, and Remove from view.

A cell shows Starting live video, Live, Reconnecting (it retries on its own), Camera unavailable, or Permission required. Try again restarts it.

Instant replay

Select Replay in a cell to watch the last moments again from the recording. The Replay list in the toolbar sets how far back it starts: 10 seconds, 30 seconds (the default), 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 5 minutes. Return to Live or Esc goes back to live video, and Open view in Playback continues in Playback. Replay needs playback permission.

PTZ cameras

For Axis PTZ cameras, select PTZ in the cell. Hold a direction on the pad to move and release it to stop, zoom with the Optical buttons or the mouse wheel, return to Home, or choose a preset and select Go. Presets come from the camera. Controlling PTZ needs device operation permission.

How live video reaches the browser

Each Site Node sends camera video to Management over its own outbound connection, and Management relays it to the browser with WebRTC. Operators never connect to cameras directly, and no camera ports are opened to them. Browsers need to reach the management server on UDP 7443. Live view plays H.265 where the viewer's browser can decode it and the camera's H.264 stream otherwise; with neither, the cell explains why the camera cannot play on that device.
