About Kalytera
Professional video management software built by security engineers — for security professionals.
Our Mission
Give every security operation — from a small business to a large enterprise — a professional-grade VMS that they fully own, control, and deploy on their own infrastructure. No cloud lock-in. No vendor dependency. No compromise on features.
Data sovereignty
Your video, recordings, and alarms live on your hardware. Nothing leaves your network unless you choose to share it.
Built for operators
Every workflow — live view, playback, alarms, maps, PTZ — is accessible from a single polished browser session with no client software to install.
Modern stack
Built on .NET 10 with WebRTC-based live streaming, on-premises AI object detection, and a zero-dependency embedded database.
Our Story
Kalytera started from a recurring frustration: commercial VMS platforms that cost tens of thousands of euros for a site license, demanded cloud connectivity for basic features, or shipped as heavy installed clients that security teams dreaded updating. On the other end, free tools handled a handful of cameras but couldn't scale or integrate with anything.
We built Kalytera to fill that gap — a fully self-hosted VMS with professional-grade capabilities that runs on commodity Windows or Linux hardware, deploys in minutes, and manages everything through a modern browser interface. Live streaming uses WebRTC for sub-second latency on the local network, with automatic HLS fallback for remote or mobile access. AI-powered analytics (person, vehicle, and object detection; zone, line, loitering, and overcrowding rules) run entirely on the local server with no external API calls.
Today Kalytera supports Hikvision, Dahua, and Axis cameras (plus generic ONVIF and RTSP sources), covers 45+ alarm and event trigger types, and scales from a free 4-camera home edition to unlimited-camera enterprise deployments. A free Community edition is available immediately — paid tiers unlock advanced analytics, alarm rules, interactive maps, I/O control, and recording export.
