System requirements Servers, database, network ports, browsers, and cameras for a Kalytera VMS installation.
Install Kalytera VMS Run Setup on Windows Server, choose a machine profile and a database, open the ports operators need, and create the first administrator. Linux servers get a package with the same roles.
First steps Sign in, find your way around Operate and Configure, and set up cameras, recording, rules, and users in a sensible order.
Add cameras Find ONVIF cameras on the network or add them by address, connect through Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, or ONVIF, and choose the streams for live view and recording.
Live view Watch cameras in layouts of 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, or 16 cells or 1+5, save private or shared views, zoom, replay recent video, and control Axis PTZ cameras.
Recording and playback Set when each camera records and for how long, find video on the timeline, play up to 8 cameras in sync, protect evidence, and export MP4 files with a SHA-256 manifest.
Rules and alarms Build rules that react to camera, input, recording, and server events, raise alarms, send email and signed webhooks, switch outputs, and move Axis PTZ cameras.
Maps Build floor-plan maps, place cameras and devices on them, link maps together, and follow live state and alarms from the map.
Users and permissions Create local user accounts, build roles from allow and deny rules scoped to sites, areas, groups, or single cameras, and review who has access.
Roles and sessions Customize roles from the five templates, add scoped exceptions, set session timeouts, see who has access, and end active sessions.
Site Nodes Register recording servers with Management from the server itself or unattended, read their status, and know which cameras and recordings each one keeps.
Recording storage Choose the drive or folder each Site Node records to, read storage status, add a recording location and move cameras to it, and act on storage alarms.
Sites, areas, and groups Describe where cameras and devices are with sites, areas, and groups, so permissions, schedules, and camera connection security follow them.
Camera settings and time Read and change a camera's video, audio, and image settings, keep its clock right, and apply time templates to many cameras at once.
Camera analytics Draw detection zones and trip lines for Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, and HeroSpeed cameras, write them to the camera, and check what the camera holds.
Virtual alarm panels Turn incoming email signals into intrusion zones with entry and exit delays that operators arm, disarm, and bypass, and use them in rules.
Update, repair, and remove Use System Manager and Setup on Windows servers to control services, import signed updates, repair or remove Kalytera VMS, and keep or delete its data.
Diagnostics and support Collect a redacted support bundle from Management and up to eight Site Nodes, check what it contains, and send it to Kalytera Support.
Event history and retention Find recent events and the actions they ran, filter them, and set how many days event history is kept.
